The 1090 only feels top heavy when you are pushing it around. Once rolling the 1090 drops a lot of weight. I haven't looked this up, but the 1090/1190 feels like the steering is much quicker than the 950/990 ADV's. It feels similar to the changes KTM did between the older slow handling 530 EXC and the 2012 500 EXC.
Main difference is the weight. Not sure what it says on paper, but moving the bikes around when stationary there is a huge difference. Power wise both is strong, but the GT revs up faster, and is way more stable at speed. With panniers on you can hit the limiter in 6th gear without fearing for your life.

These things are pricier than I thought. Looking at these: Corbin: Corbin Motorcycle Seats & Accessories | KTM 1190 Adventure R | 800-538-7035.
It retails for $24.99, but I got mine at ktmworld.com for $19.99. they have great pricing and ship for free over like $25. The new part has Red and a Black wire, though the existing part in your bike will be Blue and Brown. You'll have to unbolt the headlight and headlight mask to access where you need to be.
Back in 2003, KTM took the LC8 V-twin motor from their flagship 950 Adventure, and stuck it in a big, gnarly supermotard. The 950 Supermoto eventually became the 990 Supermoto, but was ultimately dropped from the lineup with KTM's next big motor upgrade. And that made the crew at RATicate Racing sad. So when the Californian shop got a crashed 2015 KTM 1190 Adventure R in, they took the gap
Atlanta. Hello All, I just had the 18K service on my 2014 1190 Adv. Everything went well and the bike is running better than new. Seriously, the engine is really broken in and wants to go. Interestingly --- not a single valve was out of spec ! One of the reasons I purchased the KTM was the long service intervals.

If you see my sig then you see I mostly buy newer models due to the technology and refinements. Heck, I bought 3 Tuonos to just get more features with the same 1100 motor. Ultimately it is the motor that matters and it is the reason why I got my 43k mile 990 adv beater after previously shopping for 1190/1290 and ended up saving 5-6k.
130. Location: N.E. OHIO. Yes. That's insane. I usually do my own maintenance. Decided to let my dealer do the first oil change on my 2018 1290 SAS. $200.00 And I thought that was high. Decided to change it my self around 5k miles. I know they say it can go much farther than that but figured motor was still breaking in, couldn't hurt.
